Renata: Personally, I enjoyed the whole European Youth Parliament experience, it helped me develop social and personal skills such as public speaking, understanding and debating the issues of our time and it also helped me become more open-minded and tolerant. The EYP is also a great opportunity to meet people from different places of Europe and Portugal itself, to understand their cultures and maybe even make some new friendships that will always have a special place in your heart. This community always made me feel welcomed and understood. If you feel like you have something to say and want to be heard this is the place for you!
Vasco: Participating in the European Youth Parliament was an incredible experience that helped me grow in many ways. It improved my English, especially when speaking in front of people I didn’t know, and made me more confident in expressing my thoughts, through debates and discussions. I also gained a better understanding of what’s going on in countries in Europe and the world. But the best part was meeting amazing people with similar interests, and creating friendships that I’ll always remember.
Santiago: EYP was a real growth experience. I went in feeling unsure, especially about public speaking, but left with noticeably stronger communication skills and a much wider view of the world. Working in a committee, diving into complex issues, and debating in the General Assembly pushed me to think critically and work with others in ways I had not before. I remember the brainstorming sessions, trying to find common ground on our resolution, and how rewarding it felt when we finally did. The friendships I made and the cultural exchange were definite highlights; sharing meals and stories with people from so many different backgrounds was eye-opening. I definitely feel more confident, not just in my ability to speak in front of people, but also in my understanding of issues and how they impact us all.
Sofía: EYP was definitely one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve ever had until now. It wasn’t just fun, but a whole personal growth and development experience that taught me a lot. During these three days at EYP I improved, not only my English, but my social and teambuilding skills. I also stepped out of my comfort zone, sharing my opinion with no fear and joining the debates in the General Assembly . Working and teaming up with such wonderful people, sharing our cultures and points of view definitely made me create a more open and understanding view of the world. And also made me realize how much I enjoy teamwork and to discuss social problems and try to find solutions for them, making me realize that I want my future job to be in the related area. I felt inspired and welcomed on EYP, and it will always have a special place in my heart. A place as warm as home.
Sofia: EYP was a wonderful experience for me, to be honest I have never thought I would enjoy it as much and it really surprised me. I learned a lot of things there, such as having more facility communicating in public, discussing important topics in groups and, even though it sounds funny, learning how to use post-its. I felt heard, happy and made so many new friendships that I will never forget. If I could I would go back in time just to be able to live it again. It was an incredible adventure.
